The goal of this fund is to encourage future and current labor activists to follow Jim's example of dedication to the cause of empowering workers through the union movement. The Local 51 Executive Board will determine scholarship amounts and frequency of awards. At least 60 days before a course is scheduled to begin, an applicant must send the Local 51 office their written request for assistance. The request should contain details about both the recognized Labor Studies Program, Institute or curriculum that they wish to attend, and their motivation for attending the course and participating in furthering the labor movement. Scholarship awards will be forwarded upon submission of verification of enrollment.
